Educ 7102 Tara Hatley~Elements of Distance Education Diffusion

Educ 7102 Module 2 Week 3
Elements of Distance Education Diffusion

Global Diversity is a great way of Distant Learning. I agree with George Siemens. Technical learning can be achieved outside of the classroom. Virtual tours are great learning lesson for students. Yet, for the adult learners, professions are availed through online employment. Degrees are acquired for higher education learners. Everyone can participate in online learning if they have the access to the internet and are willing to have dedication on the goal set before them.

What online tools are available today to facilitate these interactions among learners?

The online tools that are available today that facilitate interactions to have eLearning are computers, videoconferencing, Live chat, smart phones, eBoards, iPods, iPads and satellite technology through television.

Tara Hatley EDUC 7102 Asynchronous/Synchronous Information

asynchronous vs. synchronous communications

)Not synchronized; that is, not occurring at predetermined or regular intervals. The term asynchronous is usually used to describe communications in which data can be transmitted intermittently rather than in a steady stream. For example, a telephone conversation is asynchronous because both parties can talk whenever they like. If the communication were synchronous, each party would be required to wait a specified interval before speaking.
The difficulty with asynchronous communications is that the receiver must have a way to distinguish between valid data and noise. In computer communications, this is usually accomplished through a special start bit and stop bit at the beginning and end of each piece of data. For this reason, asynchronous communication is sometimes called start-stop transmission.

*Synchronous is of, used in, or being digital communication (as between computers) in which a common timing signal is established that dictates when individual bits can be transmitted and which allows for very high rates of data transfer
